Aftermorethanonemonth’sexercitationaboutPremierWen’sPressReceptionandinHanDanIronandSteelCorporation,Ihavegotmuchknowledgethatwecannotlearnfromourtestbook,atthemoment,Igotadeeperunderstandingaboutthesociety.WhatIlearntfromthisexercitationisbyfollowing:

LastThursday,theteacherscheckedourpracticalassignment.Ihavepreparedthisassignmentformorethanonemonth,IlearnedalotfromtheWenJiabao’snewsconference.

First,Ilearnedalargeamountofpoliticalwordsandexpressionsfromthereport,suchas“territory,cede,crackdown,incomedisparity,severalhistoricmatters”andsoon.Bothmylexicalresourcesandpresentationskillwereimproved.

Secondly,asastudentofEnglishmajor,inourdailylife,Ihavetoimproveourabilityoflistening,speaking,reading,writingandtranslating.Andtranslationincludeswrittentranslationandinterpretation.ItisagoodchanceformetousethesimulationofWenJiabao’snewsconferencetoimprovemyinterpretationskills.Duringthecourseofsimulation,myabilityofreaction,shorthand,andmemorywereimprovedatthesametime.

Thirdly,thenewsconferencehaslastedforthreehours.Theforeignandhomepressesaskedalotofquestionsfromdifferentaspects.AndourpremierWenJiabaoansweredtheirquestionsseriously.Ilearnedalotofpoliciesandregulationsofourcountry.Moreover,Iknewourcountry’spositionandstartformanyinternationalmatters.

Fifth,IhavetoadmitthatIamamanofshyness.Inmydailylife,Ioftendon’tdaretospeakwhenIstandinthefrontofalotofpeople.Ialwaysfeelextremelynervous.However,therequirementsofinterpretationcovermanyqualities,andconfidenceisaveryimportantqualityforagoodtranslator.Therefore,thissimulationgivesmeagoodpracticalchancetoimprovemyconfidence.

Sixth,mytranslationskillisalsoimproved,duringtheprocessofpreparingthenewsconference,firstofall,IlistenedtheChineseversionoftheWenJiabao’sgovernmentworkreport.Then,ItriedtotranslateChineseintoEnglishthatIcanusemyownwordsandexpressionstodescribethem.Irealizedthattranslationisacomplicatedandboringthing,ifIwanttotranslateanarticlewell,Imustpayenoughpatienceandeffort.MasteringacertainamountofEnglishvocabularyisthefundamentoftobeagoodtranslator,soIhavetoaccumulatealargeamountvocabularyinmydailylife.Theimprovementoftranslationabilityisnotathingthatcanbefinishedinoneortwoday.Imustinsisttopracticetranslatingonetexteverydayonlyinthisway,Iwillbeabletoagoodtranslator.

Weallknowthatchinaisabigcountrywithmorethan1.3billionpopulation.Thereformofpoliticalandeconomicstructuralwillmeetmoredifficulties.Toconductsuchreforminourbigcountry,wemuststartfromournationalcircumstancesandimplementthemstepbystep.Ibelieveanymemberofcitizenwithasenseofresponsibilityshouldfullyrecognizethatthisisanurgenttaskforourcountry.Withthedevelopmentofeconomicglobalization,ifchinawantstokeepthepositionthatcan’tbedefeated.Wemustimproveourintegratedskillsofourcountry.Therefore,allChinesemustworktogethertomakeourcountrystrong!
