感觸最深的，還是要樂觀，要自信，要相信自己不要被打敗。

主人公布萊德·科恩從6歲開始，擁有一個小伙伴，盡管電影里面的小布萊德總是與一輛自行車為伴，但是他所說的這個小伙伴并不是他的自行車，而是一種由于腦部缺陷導致的會讓他臉部抽搐發(fā)出怪叫的病。這種病叫做妥瑞癥。這種病給他帶來的影響是會讓他發(fā)出奇怪的聲音，類似狗吠，以至于布萊德長大以后求職接到面試電話的時候，對方常常會問他是否養(yǎng)了一條小狗。

當時很少人知道妥瑞癥，小布萊德的爸爸也不知道，他以為兒子是故意的，讓兒子self-control，自制。學校里的老師以為布萊德是在耍寶，班級里的學生老是嘲笑布萊德。布萊德的媽媽科恩夫人為了兒子找過好幾個醫(yī)生，醫(yī)生的診斷是父母離婚給布萊德帶來了影響。這么多人里面，也許只有布萊德的媽媽相信自己的兒子是真的控制不住。查看醫(yī)書，找出病因，帶領布萊德參與一次妥瑞癥患者的互動，當時布萊德12歲，他清楚地告訴媽媽，他不要成為那樣子，他可以和別人不一樣。媽媽也很相信布萊德，她也不希望自己的兒子以后只能居住在家里，依靠家里人的照顧。她覺得自己的兒子可以打敗妥瑞癥，獲得跟普通人一樣的生活。
